Language Ambassadors

At La ola del lago, we believe the best way to learn a language is to live it. That’s why we partnered with Amity International on the Language Ambassadors program — a unique exchange program that brings Spanish-speaking individuals from Spanish-speaking countries to our classrooms. These future educators immerse themselves in our school community and classrooms for an entire school year. They bring not only academic support, but also authentic culture, global perspective, and language fluency into every interaction.

How to Get Involved

HOST

Our Language Ambassador program thrives because of the generosity of our amazing LODL community. Hosting a Language Ambassador is an unforgettable opportunity to bring Spanish language and culture into your home while making a lasting impact. Families of current or former LODL students are eligible to host.

TIO/TIA

Tío/Tía families build meaningful, year-long connections with a Language Ambassador by including them in everyday moments a couple of times each month. Whether it’s joining a family dinner, cheering at a soccer game, helping with transportation, or going on a weekend outing, your involvement offers support, friendship, and a deeper cultural exchange.

UBER

Looking for a simple, flexible way to support our Language Ambassadors? Sign up to be part of the LA Uber Team! When a Language Ambassador needs a ride (to school events, errands, or outings) a request goes out, and anyone available can step in. It’s low-commitment, totally on your schedule, and a great way to lend a hand without hosting.
